About Hospice
and Palliative Care

  • Palliative care is for people with serious illnesses at any stage. It focuses on relieving pain and other symptoms, as well as providing emotional and spiritual support. 

    Hospice care is a type of palliative care for people who are nearing the end of their lives. It focuses on comfort and quality of life in the final stages of illness.

  • Palliative care can be considered at any time after a diagnosis of a serious illness. It can be provided alongside curative treatment. 

    Hospice care is typically considered when a person has a life expectancy of six months or less, if the illness runs its normal course.

  • Palliative care and hospice care teams include doctors, nurses, social workers, and other specialists. They provide a range of services, including:

    • Pain and symptom management

    • Emotional and spiritual support

    • Help with decision-making

    • Coordination of care

    • Respite care for caregivers

  • Yes, Hospice Philippines is a non-stock, non-profit organization and was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on September 9, 2003.

  • No, Hospice Philippines does not provide direct palliative and hospice care services to patients.

  • Hospice Philippines primarily supports its individual and organizational members.

  • Yes, we collaborate with other organizations and hospitals especially when it comes to increasing awareness and access to palliative and hospice care.

  • We will gladly accept your support and donation. Please send us an email thru info@hospice.ph so we can discuss how we can be partners in palliative and hospice care advocacy.

Membership

  • a) Organization - Any organization, corporate or unincorporated,  which provides palliative and hospice care. 

    b) Individual - Any individual who belongs to an organization which is actively involved in all or any aspect of palliative and hospice care. 

  • A. Organization

    B. Individual

  • Hospice Philippines requires members to renew their membership every year. You may renew your membership during the General Assembly held in March every year.

  • a) Attend annual general assemblies and special meetings

    b) Participate in the Palliative and Hospice Care Month activities in October each year

    c) Volunteer for advocacy projects (orientation on palliative and hospice care,  media interviews, speaker during seminars, etc)

  • No, all volunteers need to be members of Hospice Philippines.

Activities

  • Yes, Hospice Philippines provides training workshops on palliative and hospice care particularly to organizations in the community (e.g civil society organizations, parishes, schools, offices, and the like).

  • You may send us an email at info@hospice.ph if you have are interested in participating in any of our events or if you wish to have  a training workshop on palliative and hospice care for your organization.

  • Yes, there a skills-based volunteer opportunities available after you become a member.

  • The ongoing advocacy initiatives are information dissemination on palliative and hospice care thru our social media platforms.

  • Yes, we offer educational resources and research materials exclusively for our members.
