National Palliative and Hospice Care Summit 2024: Elevating Care, Empowering Professionals
A dedicated session for Nurses and Allied Health Professionals at the recent National Palliative and Hospice Care Summit on September 26, 2024 showcased the latest advancements in palliative care. Hosted by renowned pediatric palliative care specialist Dr. Alden Uyvico, the session welcomed participants with a warm greeting from Dr. Rhodora Ocampo, a pioneer in Philippine Palliative and Hospice Care.
International expert Nurse Ivy Gough from Australia and the Asia Pacific Hospice Network delivered insightful lectures on "Symptom Assessment in Palliative Care" and "Bridging Communication Gaps in Palliative Care." Locally, Mr. Jon Timothy M. Rivero of the Ruth Foundation shared valuable insights on "Preventing Complications on Mobility."
In the afternoon, a dynamic palliative case study workshop was facilitated by Dr. Maricar Sabeniano. A panel of experts, including Ms. Lourdes Tupaz, Ms. Jelanie Susan, Jose Carlo Quilaton, Nurse Milagros Nuez, Mr. Romeo Macardia, Mr. John Granada, and Nurse Christian Martinez, contributed their expertise to the workshop.
