World Hospice Day Celebration: Honoring Pioneers and Leaders

We had an incredible World Hospice Day celebration on October 12, 2024  Hospice Philippines, in partnership with the Asia Pacific Hospice and Palliative Care Network and the Supportive Hospice and Palliative Medicine at UP-PGH, gathered at the Department of Family and Community Medicine Auditorium to commemorate this special day.

Dr. Ednin Hamzah, Executive Director of Hospis Malaysia, graced the event with his insightful lecture on Leadership in Community-Based Palliative Care. His expertise was invaluable to all attendees.

We were also honored to have the presence of the pioneers of hospice care in the Philippines: Dr. Rhodora Ocampo, Dr. Agnes Bausa-Claudio, Dr. Luz Kwong, Fatima "Girlie" Garcia-Lorenzo, and Dr. Cathy Krings (via Zoom).

With the guidance of these pioneers and strong leaders like Dr. Rumalie Corvera, Dr. Karin Estepa-Garcia, and Dr. Mari Joanne Joson, the hospice and palliative care movement in the Philippines is stronger than ever.
